Turn off Email Scanning with Norton AntiVirus 2003-2006

1. Exit any email programs that are running

2. Open Norton AntiVirus (if SystemWorks or Internet Security open
that program)

3. Click the Options button at the top of the window.

4. If you see a menu, Click Norton AntiVirus (if you do not see the
menu goto step 5)

5. Click Email on the left side.

6. Uncheck Scan Incoming Email and/or Scan Outgoing Email
(whichever one is causing the problems in your email program)

7. If you are running Norton AntiVirus 2005 or 2006, then in the
Protection Alert dialog box, on the drop-down menu, click
Permanently, and then click OK.

8. Click OK.

9. Close Norton AntiVirus (or SystemWorks or Internet Security
Program)

This will stop Norton from scanning the message before downloading
or/and before sending the message which can sometimes stop the
email from sending or receiving due to time out error.
